The "Iceman" Strikes again Special to UAH Sports Birmingham, AL - UAH center Saevar Sigurmundsson was named Gulf South Conference East Division Player of the Week for the period ending January 16. The 6-6, 210, sophomore from Reykjavik, Iceland earned his second Player of the Week honor of the season, averaging 22.0 points, including .630 (17-27) shooting from the field, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks as the Chargers went 1-1. On Monday night, Sigurmundsson led the Chargers, scoring 22 points and snatching 13 rebounds in UAHs 66-53 win over Oakland City. In other news, after losing to West Georgia at home last weekend, the Chargers tumbled from the No. 2 spot in the South Region poll down to fifth place. Meanwhile, the Braves shot all the way up to the top spot from sixth place. Two other GSC teams are in the poll. Arkansas-Monticello is ranked ninth, while North Alabama is in the No. 10 spot.
